Greetings family and friends!
I hope this post finds you all well and excited for some spring and summer weather
(hopefully it will make its way here!). I am very excited to share with you
where I see God taking my life. In the last year and a half there have been
many unexpected changes in what I had as my own plans for the future. I now
have the opportunity to be not only a missionary in Brazil, but satisfy an
internship requirement for my degree in Human Development and Family Sciences
at Oregon State University. I will be living in São Paulo with a host family while
I work with the ministry a small team of us from the NW Hills college group
volunteered with in December. I am excited to go back to build on the
relationships that were made when I was down there for just ten days, but now I
get three whole months!
Restoration
Ministries is the ministry I will be interning for, where I will have the
opportunity to do a few core projects:
· I will go each week to the favelas to help host Agitas (a children’s church held by the ministry with dancing, singing and Bible messages, with the goal to build relationships among the youth in the communities), followed by regular home visits and classes to teach
English and Portuguese to the children, teens and adults. I will also have the opportunity to lead a small group of girls through a Bible study about God’s vision for our lives as young women as we discuss self esteem, healthy relationships and building accountability with other followers. This project is most definitely what I am most excited for as God has transformed my life from being held captive by my own guilt, disgust, and pain, yet he has given me the gift of empathy to support these young women during their journey of healing and transformation.

· Come to an Open House BBQ in Corvallis on June 2nd at one of NW Hills’ campus houses
· Let’s schedule a date and time that we can get together for coffee, lunch, or dinner!
